Mr. Vertz was elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and chosen by his peers as a Pennsylvania SuperLawyer for family law in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. He earned his credentials as an Accredited Valuation Analyst, denoting proficiency in business valuation theory and practice, in 2006. Mr. Vertz has served on the governing bodies for the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Section and Allegheny County Bar Association Family Law Section. He was a founding member of the Pittsburgh matrimonial chapter of the American Inns of Court. 

He is an author of Tax Consequences in Divorce (2005) and Drafting Marital Settlement Agreements for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, as well as an author and presenter for more than a decade of PBI’s Fundamentals of Family Law (1994 – 2006). He is currently Vice President-Education for the Mellon Toastmasters club. He was educated at the University of Michigan, the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business. He is admitted to the State Bar of Georgia, the state and Federal courts of Pennsylvania, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
